1. Colour Theory and Colour Mixing
The purpose of this activity is to aquaint you with how to mix acrylic paints and create tones, shades, and different hues. At the end of the activity, you will have a guide for creating colours that you can use in a painting.

..........iii) Paper provided by Mr. Koops
..........iv) Rag and Jar of water
..........v) H pencil
..........vi) Meter Stick
..........vii) Three Primary Colours of Acrylic Paint
..........viii) Black and White Acrylic Paint
.....b) Prep work for this activity
..........i) Half fill three jars with the a primary color in each
..........ii) Half fill two jars - one with black, the other with white
..........iii) On your paper create a grid of 2 cm squares - the grid should have 8 rows and 12 columns

..........i) Half fill three jars with the a primary color in each
..........ii) Half fill two jars - one with black, the other with white
..........iii) On your paper create a grid of 2 cm squares - the grid should have 8 rows and 12 columns
..........iv) Label the grid as shown below:
.....c) Instructions for the activity
..........i) Start with the row that has the primary colours by themselves: Blue, Yellow, and Red
..........ii) Use a palette knife to put a circle of red on your palette.
..........iii) Use a palette knife to put 2 circles of blue that are each equal in size to the circle of red on your palette.
..........iv) Thoroughly mix the 3 circles on your palette and paint the square labelled "Red + 2 Blue"
..........v) Make sure to clean your palette knife and brush between colours and repeat for the other squares.
..........vi) For example, for "↑+3 White" create the color then add three equal circles of white.
